Good morning, and happy Saturday! I’m writing this post in advance because I’m hoping that while you’re reading this, I’m lounging by the pool at my parents house, a book in one hand and a drink in the other. The weather forecast looks good, my sisters will be home…so fingers crossed!
And speaking of books…I found the coolest thing when I was wasting time doing invaluable work online today.
Well, that didn’t work. That was supposed to be a button for this Blogger Book Club I found today! Hosted by three bloggers – Melissa of In Her Boots, Taylor from Confessions of a Busy Busy Bee, and Madeline of My Name is Madeline, this virtual book club starts this month and goes until June 2014. The guidelines are pretty simple:
What do I have to do?
Follow your hosts.
Link up each month.
Read the twelve preselected books.
Write a review on each book by the last day of the month.
Meet other bloggers while promoting your own blog!
What does the review have to be about?
To make it simpler for everybody, you will answer these five questions:
1. What is the book about?
2. What were your initial thoughts on the book? Were you impressed? Disappointed?
3. Favorite quotations from the book.
4. What did you like most about the book?
5. Would you recommend this book to a friend?
Sounds pretty good, right? Reviews need to be posted by the end of the month so all reviews can be posted in the link up by the last day of the month. I figure this is a pretty surefire way to get me to read some new books, or books that I wouldn’t normally pick up otherwise! What books are we reading over the next year? Well, I’m glad you asked!
June – The Help by Kathryn Stockett
July – American the Beautiful by Ben Carson
August – START by Jon Acuff
September – Bossypants by Tina Fey
October – The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
November – Z. A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Anne Fowler
December – The Shack by Wm. Paul Young
January – Looking for Alaska by John Gree
February – A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
March – Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
April – Have No Shame by Melissa Foster
May – Paris in Love by Eloisa James
June – Pick your own novel month!
I have to admit, I’m more excited about some of these than others…but again, I will be reading stuff I wouldn’t normally pick up, and who knows? I may like some of those I wasn’t interested in reading! You’ll be sure to find out what I think, so stay tuned!
You may be saying to yourself right now, “But Becks, don’t you have to read and review the first book by the end of the month? Don’t you realize the end of the month is like…next week?”
Bring it on. 🙂
Hop on over to one of the lovely hosts blogs to join in the reading fun!
And now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be at the pool. Reading The Help. Can somebody get me another drink?
